PHOTOS OF ART

I am still learning how to take proper photos of the art.

My art has quite much metallic paints, glitter, metal leafs, gloss medium, gloss varnish, resin all of these make taking clear photos more challenging.

Photos look unfortunately more flat than most art pieces look in real life.

To avoid glare I have taken some photos more from aside. Some are taken in lightbox, natural light straight / on shadow side. I have left a bit surrounding edge on some of the photos so you can see if its in bright light or shadow.

Generally I prefer strong popping colours, glitter, metallics. Have tried to edit photos as close to original look as I could.

I have added photos labeled as “unfinished” to show how art was looking before glitter, before varnish or resin. I have not set any actually unfinished art work for sale. I hope that from these photos you will see more of the process, details that become hard to photograph after shiny top layers.

With different devices; laptops, mobiles etc, screens might change some colours, In painting description I have also written colour names, this might help to clear if any confusion. Any specific questions, please feel free to ask.

GAME OF COLOUR MAGICK

I love playing with colours, old and modern techniques, learning the rules and breaking them anyway in order to get that special twist to my art.

My 1st series “ Game Of Colour Magick” My goal was to master “everything” about acrylic-pouring, acrylic colours, mediums and twist my imagination to create more vibrant fun art with no limitations.

This started as plan of making 12 simple acrylic pours. After I had done over 20 it was more reasonable to plan between different pouring techniques to make series for 101, but as this has become more of lifestyle on pioneering new ways, techniques, finding more fun mediums… I give in… the artist with in must keep on doing. Over the pours I been systematically using other acrylic painting, glitter, gold and other leafs, epoxy resin, stones, pigment powders, chroma pigments, inks. Finding specific acrylic paints fluorescent, glow in dark, metallics….

At the beginning this was for my own fun only. Knowing there was many things to go true, I choose smaller and easier to store 24cm x 30cm canvas panels. My plan was to box these and storage. From my art secondary school times I still have piles of rolls after rolls of big paper drawings… too nice to throw away and not too fun to store and move. So minimising on size was logical.

In end of 2019 I must admit… I am addicted on creating art. Modern techniques are inspiring, I love how colours get their own life, mediums make the colours behave as I want. In future I see these paintings getting bigger and bolder. Refreshing my old art studies and learning new. My humble thank you for all these great artist before and now the new generation, making books, youtube videos, films and interacting on making it possible to create new generation art.

I have next 500-1000 paintings in my head. I wish my art will brings the same joy and bliss moments for others as it brings for me. Finding its place in the world.

MATERIALS / CANVAS PANELS

On “ Game Of Colour Magick” I use as base Canvas panels. I was attracted by the flat look. In my eyes these look mode modern almost like smart phones. By time TVs, Phones have got slimmer and smaller… well art does not loose its value in my mind by the downsizing ether. They look cute and modern.

On the process I realised thou why canvas panels been looked down. On same time I think I solved most of the issues.

Canvas panels tend to warp doe to moisture, most of this I solved by letting them dry / he 4 weeks curing time flat, adding pressure from below according the direction.

After resin, hot summer day I set some paintings to sunshine over silicone tray, as heat warmed the painting they levelled perfectly to flat form.

Panels are about  3mm thick. Most art hanging sets are made for thicker canvas stretchers. Screws, D-hangers etc were all so long they would have come true the panel.

Frames don’t necessary have enough space for 3mm panels. The ones having resin on, are now closer to 6-10mm thick.

Since I did not find any ready made system for hanging these I made my own system. Paper straw clips, generously wood glue and metal wire. Metal wire can be adjusted or changed anytime. After all… this hanging system is strong, who does really look the back side anyway?

Personally I would not set those into frames. Maybe some custom fitted might do.  Varnished paintings can still fit into frames. All of these are ready to hang on wall.

Part of the joy on fluid art is to play with large volume of fluid liquid colour mass, so back side of paintings looks like it. On this series I decided to unify the look with printed back papers.

MATERIALS / Acrylic, Resin +++

On “ Game Of Colour Magick” I wanted to find as much different types of acrylics and mediums, study what makes results as I want the finished painting to look.

Most colours I ended up mixing with about 6 other products, to create more gloss, stability, durability, create cells, create cloud like texture, fractures, binding.

These paintings been torched, powdered, washed under running water. Some have been scrubbed with meta;l brush and alcohol.

I have set my self on studying chemistry to understand why each substance is helpful and how to make these more archival in process. Discussed with artists around the world on pioneering techniques and products we are discovering to make the next level of future art.

Acrylic pouring as it is today is still developing art form, with many to do and don’t does. Basic acrylic pour cures about 4 weeks, surface dryer faster, but as I want permanent results I been letting each piece to cure minimum 4 weeks, any additional level 2-4 weeks, resin another 4 weeks. During the 1st 4 weeks colour tend to darken, after extracting some substances out of canvas, colour pops up life again. I have followed each step as well as i have found information. Most paintings been curing about 10 weeks to 6 months. Before I even consider selling them I have followed at least 4 weeks after last stage that colours are stabile, surface looks like I like it. (Some resins I have already redone 6 times.) Art is not suppose to be perfect, it tells its story too. In resin there is occasionally a cat hair, air bobbles, dandelion seed. If it is visible, I write it in description.
